Amazing Thailand, Amazing Destinations!

The world is opening up finally with Nations relying on tourism breathing a sigh of relief as their economy has been hit severely for the last two years due to the Covid19 pandemic. Fore runner Thailand organized a Golf fam trip to showcase the facilities, processes and the safety protocols in place for the future travelers to the country.

The participants were drawn from various professions related to travel with Golf as a common binding factor.

While the process as explained to us seemed cumbersome it turned out to be a cinch. One RTPCR test before departure, one post arrival on the way to the hotel, Vaccination certificate and personal details to be uploaded for ‘Thai Pass’.

The flight itself was devoid of the usual crowd as the scheduled tourism had not kicked in yet.

The itinerary was hectic but enjoyable as we speed dated our way through 8 days. We were all besides Golf, also looking forward to another favorite – Thai cuisine.

Golf at Blue Canyon, Red Mountain in Phuket was exciting as before. Playing at Blue Canyon, the two times host venue for Johnny Walker Classic is always a thrill as one gets to walk into the footsteps of Tiger Woods. Incidentally he has played at the course both as an amateur and after turning professional. Playing at Aquella Golf & Country Club the new course in the province of Phang Nga, bordering Phuket was fun to play and should be a must play while playing in Phuket.

A meeting with the stake holders of Phuket Tourism Organizations went down well and so did the surprise Indian Dinner at the Amari Resort.

Back in Bangkok almost a day spent in the newly renovated Thaniya plaza left us gasping for more. A round at the Summit Windmill Golf Course, another gem in Bangkok’s Golfing crown was not only fun but also educative as the Deputy governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Host gave a rundown on the various initiatives present and future.

We headed back never willing to leave the Kingdom of Golf!

Note- The Pre-departure RTPCR is being discontinued while going to print and the on arrival RTPCR is being replaced with a self-test from May 1st.
