A love affair with Goa has led to a golf tournament. And that’s because he loves golf too. We are talking about Suvir Ahuja here, a corporate chieftain who has worked across the globe, managed a family school and then finally after retirement bought a house in Goa. And he fell in love with Goa. For a passionate golfer who has also helped promote the sport in India through the sponsorship of a professional golf Tournament many years back, the Xerox Open, he found that Goa was missing a quality Golf Tournament. And that’s how the seed got planted. While Suvir lives at quite some distance from the lovely Lalit Golf Course, which is part of the Lalit Golf and Spa Resort, he found himself travelling there each time that he was in Goa. The quaint 9 hole layout next to the sea was both beautiful and enjoyable to play and he realized that very few people in India knew that there was such a lovely facility in Goa. And Voila – the idea hit him!!  Let’s create a quality event which could become a brand and help showcase Goa and Goan golf to the world. It gave him the opportunity of combining his passion for Goa, Golf, nature and also supporting the development of golf in India. Which the event proposes to do, in addition to showcasing Goan golf to the world. To actualize his vision, he roped in Digraj Golf Inc and the Goa Golf Carnival was conceptualized with both serious and fun golf elements woven in together. The serious amateurs will be competing for the GOA Golf Cup which will be played at the Lalit Golf Club on the 26th and 27th of October 2018. This will be a 2 days, 36 holes, stroke play competition while the regular players will be competing, both for the Serious prizes and some fun Handicap and skills based prizes. Packages have been created for stay at the beautiful Lalit Golf and Spa Resort and some nearby venues as well and it was determined that this event would also acknowledge the spouses who make golf possible for all golfers. So interesting activities have been woven in for the spouses who are likely to accompany the golfers. It is expected that in the future, this event in Goa will vie for prime attention in comparison with other golfing holiday destinations. So dear golfers, please do not miss this opportunity. A great experience awaits you and to confirm your participation please write to digrajgolf@gmail.com or call Varun Khanna on 9910250502. This Tournament is bound to become a legacy event and it will be great to be remembered as the 1st Goa Golf Champion.
